04-10-2026 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It’s Friday, and the 47th anniversary of the 1979 tornado, also known as Terrible Tuesday. I have updated the schedule of International Space Station passes over Wichita Falls for those who just like to watch it pass by, and those who want to attempt to make Amateur (ham) Radio contact. I have more painting to do today, so there will be little time for radioing until this evening. By then, my boomer behind will be tired! My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

5:05 AM - NWS Forecast - Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1pm and 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. South southeast wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

--- 5:10 AM - According to Water Data for Texas, Wichita Falls reservoirs are: Arrowhead: 82.4% Kemp: 95.9% Kickapoo: 84.3%. Monitored Water Supply Reservoirs are 88.6% full. The City of Wichita Falls uses combined levels of Arrowhead and Kickapoo (83.35%) to determine drought stage.

--- 5:15 AM - NWS Short Range Weather Discussion

--- 5:20 AM - NWS Extended Range Weather Discussion

--- 5:45 AM - In the news is a report of Bibles being received at the James V. Allred Unit containing narcotics-tainted pages. It is my understanding that books and magazines can be sent to Allred only by verified publishers, not by individuals. This may be why these Bibles were checked closely for contraband before being rejected.

--- 7:10 AM - Someone online thought this was National CB Radio Day because it's 4/10/2026. I wanted to tell them they're six months early because National CB Radio Day is October 4th (10/4), not 4/10. I couldn't tell them because I have adopted a policy of not correcting people online. My blood pressure is lower when I mind my own business.

--- 7:30 AM - I attended the Altus Area Amateur Radio Association hamfest in March of 2025. While purchasing tickets at the door, a man and his wife walked past the ticket table. He was stopped by the "ticket master" and informed that there was a $5 cover charge to enter. The man looked as if the "ticket master" had called him and his wife a bad name. He took her by the arm, and out they went. Did it not occur to him that the radio club had to pay to use the building?

--- 10:00 AM - An oversized load is coming through town, with communications on CB Radio Channel 19. I haven’t listened in on CB Radio in a few days, so I’m sure more than a few oversized loads have passed this way. Tune in with your CB Radio. You never know when you’ll be able to assist with local information.

--- 2:30 PM - From the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission - BISSELL Recalls Over One Million Steam Shot OmniReach Steam Cleaners Due to Risk of Serious Burn Hazard from Attachments. Got one? Contact the place of purchase.

--- 6:05 PM - The Local Group is active on CB Radio Channel 23 this evening. I have them running in the background while I watch a Netflix flick, drink coffee, and consume a slice of cake.

--- 9:10 PM - A U.S. Amateur (ham) Radio Operator has been calling CQ DX (looking for foreign contacts) on 40 meters CW (Morse code) and has been racking up the contacts. Interesting, even though I’m no longer a DXer.
